Google recently released Chrome Beta version 99.0.4844.16, allowing users to test new features before their official launch. We'll tell you what's new below.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

According to a changelog mentioned by the company, Chrome Beta 99.0.4844.16 will contain stability and performance fixes.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Chrome 99 beta version<\/a>\u00a0It is already available on Windows, Mac, Android and iOS, and the final version is expected to be ready soon.<\/p>\n

As to\u00a0the most noteworthy new features<\/a>, has a\u00a0simple download button bar in the upper right corner<\/strong>\u00a0(It would be quite similar to what we have in Microsoft Edge.) We also highlight that\u00a0This beta version includes support for a handwriting recognition API<\/strong>. Google has been experimenting with this API since Chrome 91, and it's now available in the latest beta version.<\/p>\n

This will make it easier for developers to create note-taking and drawing apps that work seamlessly across different platforms without having to use third-party integrations.<\/p>\n

Chrome 99<\/a>\u00a0On the other hand, it aims to resolve issues with ad blockers. Starting with this version, Google no longer allows new ad blocker extensions to use Manifest V2.\u00a0New ad blockers must now use Manifest V3.<\/strong><\/p>\n

What does this mean for the user? Google will stop giving extensions access to a fundamental API for the functioning of ad blockers (webRequest), in favor of another that will limit their effectiveness: declarativeNetRequest, which they consider more secure.<\/p>\n
